NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:
I am extremely proud of this production. The level of talent portrayed from the cast, crew, pit orchestra, and production team is the rare kind that is not often found at a high school level. However, a truly successful production is much more than the performance you will see tonight. It is the long process that led to this moment that truly displays the dedication that these artists have for their craft. They gave up their evenings for months(YES, plural!), some of their weekends, and even a teacher workday to show up and ensure that this production was the best that it could possibly be. Each sparkle you see tonight was hand placed by myself and this group of dedicated artist who have just as much of an affinity for glitter as I do. Each student involved shows a level of commitment that a high school director can only dream of, and for that I am forever grateful.
As this is my first year at Northwood, I had a big task ahead of me: picking a musical for a group of students that I was just getting to know. I went back and forth with some options, but after getting to know these individuals, I had a vision and couldn't shake it. Not only do they all portray their roles with extreme empathy, composure, and commitment, but they also innately share the confidence, conviction, and empowerment that our six queens have. This is something that I could never teach; it is simply who they all are at their core.
The same can be said about every student working behind the scenes or in the pit on this production. They worked the same hours, if not longer sometimes, to ensure that this production was the highest quality it could be. I am eternally grateful to you all.
To My Seniors:
- Sam: Thank you for stepping up to whatever task I could ever ask of you. I will miss having you as my right hand man!
- Carter: The best dressed lighting designer on the East Coast. The light board and I will miss you dearly.
- Libby: Your infectious energy is something I wish I could bottle up. I know you will continue to shine bright wherever your path takes you.
- Vincent: Thank you for trusting me enough to take on such a daunting role in P&P. I am so grateful for your work behind the scenes, as well. A true jack of all trades.
Thank you all for coming to see our production. Enjoy!
