FAQ'S

Why can't I take pictures/videos of my own kid?

There are several reasons for this that relate to both school and copyright concerns.  Our licenses with the authors do not allow any such recording, we essentially are renting the play and must follow very specific guidelines for when, how, and if any may be taken.  It is the equivalent of bootlegging a movie.  When schools are caught, and they are, they lose ALL future permissions of any show licensed by that company and risk fines.  Also, there are students whose parents do not grant permission for their child to be recorded.  A student may be put at risk when an unauthorized image gets out. OCHS's mission is to teach behaviors necessary to be a productive citizen, and this etiquette supports this.  Thank you for your support.

When are you going to put on ______________?

Shows are not selected because someone simply wants to do them.  Shows are selected primarily for educational opportunities for the students and the growth of the program.  A musical, for example, must be brass based, as we have a band but not an orchestra.  What are the technical needs of the piece - does it provide the tech students sufficient challenges?  Can we afford it?  Once these questions are answered, then the story and content are examined.  Does this provide a cross-curricular opportunity?  Is the content on par with what is read in the English classes?  These are some of the decision making factors.
