Mary Poppins - April 29 - May 01, 2016

Oak Hill High School

 End Notes

NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

  • I am, as always, extremely proud of this production.  The quality of the cast, pit orchestra, stage crew and set builders/designers are outstanding.  A truly successful production, however, involves more than what is presented on stage.  It should not only be an artistic learning experience, but a personal one as well.  I'm especially proud of the cooperation, mutual respect, level of commitment, and teamwork that has been demostrated by everyone in this production.  These students have put egos aside and discovered that whether they have zero lines or a hundred, were on or off stage, were a chorus member or lead, everyone shares equally in the pride and success of such an accomplishment.
  • Thank you to Mr. Mike McDivitt, for allowing us to do a musical this year, and supporting us in our adventure.
  • Thank you to the OHUSC administration and teachers for your continued support of the arts.
  • To my seniors--it's always really hard and bittersweet for me to watch our final performance together at Oak Hill.  I'm super proud of the four of you--you are INCREDIBLE young adults, and your impact has been felt by all of those in the cast and in attendance.

Eily - Aren't you glad you took me up on tech for Little Women?  I totally knew

you would be bitten by the acting bug.  You've come a long way, and thank you for

allowing me to experience your journey!   No longer the girl I remember being so

scared to sing in front of the class.

Brandon - Thank you for the various packs of King Size Reese Cups that you

would give me when you were late for rehearsal.  And for the moments and

stories that we all love to recount.  Look at you -- you are a star!

Colin - No more flipping my chairs over, or stealing my favorite chairs.  Your hard

work, commitment, and talent has come so far!

Claire - Thank you for going with the Russian accent.  It's one of my favorite

parts.  I wish we could have had more productions to work together on!

  • To the parents who talked me into another musical on what used to be an off year -- you're welcome!  And look what we did!
  • Garth Miller - Though you had no idea Anita and I nominated you for set build, it's the BEST SET EVER!  Thank you for your time and explanations of things when I gave you a confused face.
  • Dave McDivitt, Katie Warnock, Robert and Philina Martinez, Kelly McPike, Brooke Cheek, Jennifer Fox and Tanya O'Blenis - Thank you for taking on all the things backstage.  This show wouldn't be possible without you!
  • Regan Reese and Allison Florea - Thank you for the AMAZING choreography for our students!  Seriously!  You both are the best.  I owe you both Casa Brava.
  • Dave McDivitt, Rhonda Fagan, Aubrey Johnson and Robert Martinez - Thank you for allowing me to talk you into playing a role.
  • To all of those who brought me Starbucks, Cherry Coke, Heath Bars and Oatmeal Rasin cookies from Subway to fuel me through rehearsals...you all are the best.
  • Anita - You rock.  Seriously.  Thank you for being my third and fourth hand (and occassionally my brain and food provider).
  • Mom and Dad - Thank you for the Teddy Ruxpin that had the ability to play my Best of Disney collection cassette tapes as a child.  Spoonful of Sugar is one of my favs.
