You Can't Take It With You - November 10 - November 11, 2018

Oak Hill High School

 End Notes

Director's Note:

Last year, I made it a mission to go back through Oak Hill's theatre history and make a record of all the shows that have ever been performed at Oak Hill.  This show has been the most performed in high schools, yet not performed yet at Oak Hill--we wanted to change that.  And I believe you will see why throughout the show:  it's a hilarious story that shows EVERY family has it's quirks, and no family is boring.  There's a lot of lessons that are learned through the show: some comedic, and some very deep.  It is a goal of Oak Hill Drama to portray what the playright intendeded in their message of the show, and I believe this cast does just that.

The chemistry on stage that you will witness is real--this is a group of students who bonded way before this show even came to life.  The ad-libbing and presence you will see shows how much growth has come during this show.

To our seniors Ian, Aynsley, Cassie, Colin, Jalyn and Jacob--thank you for being an incredible team for students to model after.  Your hard work and leadership have been so monumental to this production.  I am so proud of you, along with the rest of our cast.

To my student directors Tiernan and Sarah--initially, we had discussed just being stage managers.  But from day one, you showed initiative, courage, leadership beyond your years, and organization that astounds me that made us very comfortable handing this show over to you.  I believe that it was an incredible life lesson to give you directorship, and allowing your peers to be led by you.  You have done an phenominal job, and as your Drama director, it is so heartwarming and inspiring to see students really take on what I do and run with it.  I'm INCREDIBLY proud of you both.

I have been and continue to be excited to see how we keep growing and learning while performing.  On to the next one!  May it be just as impactful!
