Oak Hill High School

 End Notes

If you would have told me fourteen months ago that we would not get to do a production on Oak Hill's stage until now, I would have thought you were crazy.  The shock of not being able to do a production rocked me deep to my soul.  Honestly, I felt lost and scared that all we had worked so hard to create would be gone.  So, when students came to me in October begging to do a show, I told them I'd do all I could possible to ensure we could do something.  I presented them ideas of what we could license, and when ALL of them chose this show (which I thought would come dead last), I panicked.  The weight of this show, doing it correctly and impactfully, and the musicality that is required is probably more work than we have done in the recent past.  This is not a show that is "cute" or "funny".  It is deep, dark, and tells a story that will stay with the students and audience.

So, here tonight, I present to you this story.  The story that these kids have worked so hard to understand.  To know the high stakes, the choices of each individual and what would have led to those choices, and the life that each of these individuals would have led.  Their lives are interweaved and affect each other.  We have learned that our choices not only affect us individually, but those around us.  The lessons these students have learned through this show will stay with them for a lifetime.

There are a few people I would like to thank and recognize:

To my seniors:

Ezra: I still see 8th grade Ezra.  I will forever see 8th grade Ezra.  And I will forever see the amazing man you have become!

Olivia: It is an amazing sight to see you light up the stage!

Ethan Cass: It's been an amazing ride of many years and many productions.  I am so proud of you!

Maddie: I've seen you grow leaps and bounds as a performer and a person.  You are so loved!

Bryce: I have known you could do it.  All along.  Even back as an 8th grader, I saw the potential.  I am oh so proud of you.

Ethan Elliott: Your quiet strength is something I will miss.  And you showing Gunnar how to lift.  That was pretty great, too.

Tara: You are a ray of sunshine!  I will miss your funny comments and constant dedication!

Jessie: Thank you for being dedicated and sharing your many talents!  You are amazing!
