NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR
I am extermely proud of this production. The quality of the cast and crew continues to amaze me. A truly successful production involves more than what you see on stage, however. It is a learning experience, a chance for students to grow as artists and collaborators. The commitment, respect, and teamwork demonstrated by these students is something to truly celebrate. Everyone here should be sincerely proud of their work and what they have accomplished.
I was drawn to Peter and the Starcatcher before I even knew the students. The script lent itself to collaboration and an ensemble. I saw potential for students of all types and talents to come together to tell this story--and really enjoy doing it too!
This may not be my first show, but from this experience I have learned a lot. What I take away from this production is less about theatre and more about community. The students, parents, and community here at Oakland Mills astounds me. The support and effort from everyone has shown me what it truly means to be a part of a school and I cannot wait to direct more shows here.
Lastly, I would like to thank my actors. Your professionalism and silliness created a wonderful place to spend my afternoons. Your collaboration helped to create a show that you can truly say is yours, and afterall, isn't that what it's all about? I wish you only the best in your future endeavors and I hope to see you all for the spring musical auditions!
