The Gin Game - October 17 - October 26, 2014

Old Havana Courthouse Theatre

 Director's note

“The Gin Game” has been on my bucket list of productions to do for some time.  I was faced with several drawbacks however.  I could not find a theater company willing to gamble on a two character play and I needed to find two talented actors who could meet the challenge.

Having worked with Tina and Greg, I already knew I had a cast of quality.  The next step was to find a suitable venue.  As it turns out Greg happened to mention our production to Bill Christoffels.  Bill was delighted to open the doors of The Old Havana Courthouse Theater.  The rest is history.

Working with Tina and Greg is every director’s dream.  They are off book in no time.  This allows us to develop a character profile and naturally incorporate the play’s dialogue.  Both are easily motivated and follow direction.  Only real pros can meet this challenge.

Thank you Greg and Tina for the opportunity to work both again.  Your dedication to the craft and hard work has made my Weller and Fonsia a reality.

Special thanks to Bill and his wife Donna for opening up their theater doors for our production.  To Peter who took the time in his busy schedule to hang and set lights.  To my dear friends Chris and Megan who saved the day stepping up to run lights and sound.  I cannot forget my friend Kerri for jumping in and becoming our stage manage.  Our thanks to the Elmira Psychiatric Center for the use of their auditorium and to Arnot Health/St. Joseph’s Hospital for allowing us to borrow props.  To the family and friends of our cast and crew, I thank you for all of your support.  To our audience, thank you for supporting the arts.

Now please sit back and enjoy the Pulitzer Prize winning play “the Gin Game”

Gratefully,

Linda Riechel
