Annie - June 06 - June 08, 2019

PS 87

 End Notes

It’s always been a dream of mine to direct and choreograph this staple in American musical theater. After last years funky fresh production of Sister Act I figured there was no better time then to rewind the clocks of history and give the students the opportunity to present this classic tale. I’m sure you have all seen a production or version at some point in your life whether it be the original on broadway or the latest movie rendition. All of these share the same message. Never, ever give up on yourself and your search for happiness. The end result may not be what you expected or planned but as long as you continue to go through life with a grin you will find the sun will ALWAYS come out.

I find in today’s climate we can all take a note from little orphan Annie and continue to try and stay positive regardless of what we may be facing. Year after year this group of young performers leave myself and the rest of the creative team in awe. We push them to be the best that they can be because we know that the students at Ps87 are fiercely talented, passionate, hard working and capable of anything they put their mind to. This year and this group of shining stars were no different. They have worked so hard to help convey this story to you.

To the parents- I thank you for lending us your incredible children. They have been nothing short of amazing to work with. And to each and every one of you in this cast- I thank you for being my sun that I needed to come out more times than you know. You have made this experience one I will never forget and I am beyond proud of you all.

Ladies and Gentleman- I proudly present the 2019/2020 Shining stars in ANNIE!
