NOTES FROM THE DIRECTORS

When you have a group of students that have the hearts, skills, talents, and positive attitude such as these students, it is a director's dream and also nightmare!

It's easy to describe the dream.  They are on time, ready to go, scary talented, open to changes and direction, ready to jump at a moments notice, taking on all things for the show.  It is so easy to do your job when you have kids like this!  But it is also a nightmare.....in a good way.  A director for a group like this has to bring their "A" game always, no cutting corners or taking shortcust just because they are "high school" kids. Everyone is so so talented, you really want to make sure everyone get a show stealing "bit" or something stand out to do strictly because they can do it and make it look natural!  We could have cast this show 15 different ways and it would have felt natural. That is how good these people are.

Our joy has come in watching these kids grow up from when we had them as 6th graders at the middle school to several of them launching on to post high school life and opportunities.  We feel a bit like a proud mama and papa and share that joy with them and their families.  We love them all like they were our own and cannot wait to see what the future brings and we continue to serve this fantastic district and program.

We want to thank you, our audience for supporting and encouraging these students in the arts and performing.  We try to make sure that they are involved in all aspects of a show.  The kids picked this show, and learned how to do that.  They are involved even in blocking, choreography and music choices as well as stage craft and lighting and sound design.  Learning all aspects of theater is important so that the well rounded student can enjoy all parts of being in a show.  Not just performing.

Our hope is to continue to grow this department to include more students with larger and more intricate production value and experiences.  We hope to one day take the students to LA and NY to see and experience how professionals do this kind of work.  We hope to be part of workshops and classes that the students travel to take to enhance their already large skill base and talent level.  We hope to partner with families, businesses and individuals to help bring the kids more opportunites to study and grow in the performing arts.  We thank the Performing Arts Foundation of Pacific Grove and Scott Rhoades and his team at Leadership Monterey Peninsula for creating a fundraiser for the performing arts in the PG Unified School Distict.  Please come and support the program on May 1st and 2nd!

Thank you so much for your time and encouragment for this show!
