Marvelous Squad - November 16 - November 17, 2023

Parkway Southwest Middle School

~DIRECTOR'S NOTE~

When Avengers Endgame was released in Theaters in 2019, I had maybe seen one or two Marvel movies over the years. My video production class at the time informed me that I wasn't allowed to see Endgame until I had seen all the other Marvel movies up to that point. So I jumped on google and printed out a list of all the movies and the order in which to watch those movies. I spent the next two weeks watching Marvel movies, (there were a lot of movies). The students in class would ask me questions about each movie as I completed it, to make sure that I wasn't cheating. I was able to finish them, in order and then watch the entire purpose of the endeavor, Endgame.

When I read this play last year, it made me think of Marvel adventure in 2019, I thought the characters were funny and the situation ridiculous. I don't often do parodies, but I thought that any time you get to be superheroes on stage you will be having fun. This play has been challenging and exciting, watching the students discover their characters and then create them onstage has been fun to watch.

To the cast who have worked very hard to memorize every line, entrance, costume change and movement on stage.  This is a very difficult show and you have managed to succeed.

To the crew who have worked to make sure that every set piece, prop, costume, swipe of makeup, picture, light and sound effect were ready to go, your work ethic is amazing.

To Josh Brecht, who so graciously volunteered his time to help our sound crew, I thank you.

To my family and friends, who are always there when I call for help, from taking out my dog to running errands for the play. I am truly grateful to have such a great support system in my life.

Finally, to the audience, THANK YOU for  your support of Southwest Middle School's Theatre Department. We appreciate your attendance this evening.
