A Note From The Musical Director:
As soon as we met our cast, we knew right away that Shrek was going to be something special. From the moment they sung their first notes to tonight, they contiue to inspire and amaze me. To our wonderful cast, thanks for putting reservations aside to tell a wonderful story. Be Great!
As we present Shrek for the world to see, I reflect on the countless times that I was on this very stage under the direction of Ms. Debbie Watwood. She loved music and the arts, but she loved us more. Her words and her guidance have inspired many and have brought me here tonight to help present our story to you. I would like to dedicate this performance to Ms. Watwood. Thanks for the music, "because I knew you, I have been changed for good..."
- Mr. Daniel Stanford
A Note From The Director:
When I first saw Shrek, I was struck by the powerful, important message for young people today. Through Shrek's journey we learn that it isn't what others think, but what we do, feel, and believe that defines us. It is my hope that you, the audience, will leave here feeling proud to, "let your freak flag fly!"
No matter how many productions I am involved in, I am always overwhelmed by the sheer number of people that it takes to make one come together. It truly takes a village to raise the curtain, and I'd like to thank them.
To the parents of the cast and crew, thank you for allowing them to experience the magic of theatre.
Thank you to my own parents for their unending support of all my endeavors.
To Mr. Mo, my own theatre teacher, who ignited my love for the stage - RAH!
To Barb Pratt, whose dedication started it all - 3 is still a magic number!
Thank you Lindsay Martin, Dakota Ball, Bailey Elrod, Matthew Alexander, and Gabby Hubert for being some of the most dedicated, talented students I have ever had the pleasure to know and teach.
Thank you to Ms. Diana Domagala, Crystal Kolarik and an incredible group of talented, tenacious women who took every costume challenge and came up with solutions that met and surpassed my expectations.
Thank you to Mr. Doug NeSmith for lending his time and talent to build our sets.
Thank you to Ms. Diane Howie for making my scenic dreams come true and for everything she says.
That you to Mr. Jordan Marmara, who is truly the rock that holds the show together when it is in action. Thank you for everything you do to support me - it would not be the same without you.
Thank you Mr. Daniel Stanford whose equal parts support and criticism help push the show to its greatest potential. Thank you for your talent, your time, and your friendship. We survived another one!
Finally, I am endlessly proud of our students for their willingness to share so much of themselves with an audience. While I know it scares them, they put fear aside and amaze me every day. Love you kiddos!
I am so grateful to have been a part of this production. While it has been a lot of work, it has been even more fun. If you enjoy it even half as much as I have enjoyed directing it you're in for a treat!
"This is our story...", and we hope you like it
