A Note of Welcome from the Carter's

Welcome to our second production of the 2016 - 2017 Dunbar Theatre Season!

You are in for a treat this evening as we present An Evening of One-Acts; two one-act plays presented with an intermission between them.  We also have invited two Dunbar Alumni to come and direct a play each.  Although we have presented one-act plays before and have even had guest directors, this is the first time we have used former students as directors.

The first show tonight will be ORPHAN TRAINS.  This play is based on archives, transcripts and records of The Orpah Train Project, Children's Aid Society of New York.  Our guest director, Austin Journey, went to Dunbar from the fall of 2000 until the spring of 2003.  A graduate of Heritage High School, Austin was very active in theatre here at Dunbar and at Heritage.  Austin had supporting and lead roles in Harvey, Lil' Abner, Gifts of The Magi, Rally 'Round The Flag, Boys! and Hello, Dolly! here at Dunbar.  Austin has also guest directed at Heritage; including the plays, Moon Over Buffalo, A Christmas Story and Wait Until Dark.

Our second show is a study of a young girl's self image and trying to be PERFECT.  Our guest director, Erin Foreman was in six grade, my very first year teaching at Dunbar.  She was cast in a lead role in the first one-act I directed here, Oh, Baby!  She appeared on our stage in Bye Bye Birdie, Oliver!, Cheaper By The Dozen, That Day, and Annie Get Your Gun.  A graduate of Glass, she appeared on stage there and in many local community theatre productions.

We are very excited to be working with both Erin and Austin.  They have done a great job with our students and we're sure that you will enjoy the shows this evening.  Thank you for coming tonight and supporting our theatre program here at Dunbar.
