Welcome to the Phoenixville Area Middle School and the 20th Annual Spring Spectacular, Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr.
When we first started the Spring Spectacular in 2006, we produced a show that featured songs from movies. In our second production, we took a trip to Oz and performed songs from The Wizard of Oz, Wicked and The Wiz all tied together with an original script. Our first scripted musical was the revue style musical Schoolhouse Rock! With the 6th grade moving into the elementary schools next year, we wanted to bring back a classic show with a large cast and Beauty and the Beast was the perfect choice. A decade ago the PAMS student body performed Beauty and the Beast for the first time. We are thrilled to bring this production back to the PAMS stage with a whole new cast and crew.
Over the past 9 weeks, the cast, crew and pit band have been working hard to bring our production to life. We had some weather challenges, but nothing was going to stop us from bringing this classic disney tale to life.
This year's production features A LOT of costumes. There are over 350 separate costume pieces, over 120 light cues, 30 wireless microphones, over 30 sound cues, almost 100 cups, over 75 props/set pieces and we use 11 different fly bars to move various set pieces and backdrops through the air. Tonight's performance runs approximately 85 minutes long with no intermission.
