One of the beautiful things about She Kills Monsters is that while it is a show that takes place as the characters play Dungeons and Dragons, the audience does not need to know the game in order to enjoy the show and its wonderful message. This story is not about fantasy, but just uses a fantasy world to tell a much deeper story. This is a story about family, love, and acceptance. All of these themes are so present in our society today, and I believe that this is such an important story to tell as a reflection of that.
Every year, I am in awe over the level of talent and dedication that I see in the actors and crew members of the Pinkerton Players, and their eagerness to create art and tell these stories with such important messages. Even as challenges arise, they never falter in that eagerness and determination. They believe in the stories they are telling and want them to be heard. I could not be more fortunate to be able to be a part of that every year, if even for a short amount of time.
After a year that was anything but normal, this year has so far been unique in many ways. As our school tries to return to a state of normalcy, we are bringing you to another school setting where everything is far from normal. In this show, you will be transported to a “normal” high school in Ohio for parts of the story. In other parts of this story, we take you to a fantasy world created by dreamers. In the alternate reality you will, along with our heroes, experience life as a “collection of stories”.
We hope you enjoy this story!
