 Director's Note

Once again I am reminded of how blessed I am to work with such wonderful people! Special thanks to Aimee (Producer extraordinaire), Katelyn (the best Assistant ever) Lisa (Premiere Tech Wizard) and Bill (King of deciphering my set design and making it come to life).  Thanks also go to all the parents and students who worked behind the scenes in so many areas!! Lastly, I am so grateful for my wife Lyn, who supports me, cheers me on, makes me laugh and keeps me sane.  I literally could NOT do this without you all.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

I took a huge risk this year because last Spring we graduated so many seniors who had been lead players for the past few years and I wasn’t certain we could pull off such a beloved period, dialect show like this. However, these “kids” took the challenge, stepped up to plate and began hitting “ home runs” each time they walked on stage. I have loved working with them!!

If I took the time to discuss all the themes in this show, there would not be enough room in this program. But to touch on one, I will say that I am NOT the kind of person who believes in a “soul mate”. I don’t believe our love life is written in the stars. I don’t believe in predestination.  I believe that we are each endowed by our Creator with the gift of “choice.” The Bennet sisters were born into a period when it seemed as though they had little choice concerning their lives, but Elizabeth defies all odds and makes a number of choices, albeit some based on facts and some based on conjecture and misinformation. But as the story progresses and all is laid bare, she eventually says to her father, “He is… the object of my choice.”  She understands that she has the power to accept or reject this relationship, and after weighing all her options and considering all things, she CHOOSES to LOVE. Wouldn’t life be more thrilling, more rewarding, more fulfilling, and more joyful if we all did the same? So please enjoy our take on Pride and Prejudice and as you leave this place to live your lives, please…CHOOSE LOVE!! ( 1 Corinthians 13).
