Director's Notes on Interludes:
Between each act, there will be a short “dance” or performance inspired by a theme in Bob: A Life in 5 Acts. These Interludes, which were student-driven, will show the students' perspective on the show's meaning.
Act 1: How Bob was born, abandoned, raised by a fast-food employee, discovered his dream, and almost dies.
Scene 1 - White Castle on Valentine’s Day, Bob’s Birth.
Scene 2 - Jeanine's House, five days later
Scene 3 - A 12-year-long Road Trip Across America
Scene 4 - Chicago, Bob at 12-years-old
INTERLUDE 1 - HARDSHIP
Act 2 - How Bob does not die, comes of age at a rest stop, pursues his dream, falls in love, and has his heart broken.
Scene 1 - William Burroughs Memorial Rest Stop. Mound City, Missouri. 550 miles from Chicago.
Scene 2 - William Burroughs Memorial Rest Stop, Bob at 18 years old
INTERLUDE 2 - LOVE
Act 3- - How Bob pursues his dream across America, gets chased out of many towns, meets an important man, and turns his back on everything he believes.
Scene 1 - A 12-year montage, Bob travels across America, stopping at diners along the way
Scene 2 - A coffee shop in Poncha Springs, Colorado. Bob at 30 years old.
Scene 3 - A train car that same night.
