ANAÏS MITCHELL is a singer-songwriter whose recordings include the original studio album of Hadestown (2010, featuring Justin Vernon and Ani DiFranco) and Young Man in America (2012). Reinterpretations of traditional music include Child Ballads (2013, with Jefferson Hamer) and Bonny Light Horseman (2019, as Bonny Light Horseman). She has headlined worldwide and supported tours for Bon Iver, Josh Ritter, and Punch Brothers. Awards include the BBC Radio2 Folk Award and the Folk Alliance International Spirit of Folk Award. Year-end best lists: NPR, Wall Street Journal, MOJO, Uncut, Guardian, Sunday Times, Observer. Hadestown is Anaïs's first musical.

BILAL Z. RAYCHOUNI is a writer, actor, and director who teaches in Powhatan; this is his second project with PHS Theatre. A graduate of Emerson College and GMU, Bilal has worked in the US and the Middle East. Credits include Roald Dahl's Matilda, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Vampires in Virginia, Showtime's Homeland, AMC's The Walking Dead, Apple TV's Swagger, and others.

RACHEL CHAVKIN is a director, writer, and artistic director of Brooklyn-based experimental collective, the TEAM (theteamplays.org). Won the 2019 Tony Award for her work on Anaïs Mitchell's Hadestown. 3-time Obie winner; Tony and Lortel nominations & a Drama Desk Award for Dave Malloy's Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812. Projects: Larissa FastHorse's The Thanksgiving Play (Second Stage; 1st play by a known Native American woman on Broadway), Liliana Padilla's How to Defend Yourself (NYTW; co-directed with Padilla and Steph Paul), Marco Ramirez's The Royale (LCT; Obie Award, Drama Desk and Lortel noms), Bess Wohl's Small Mouth Sounds (Ars Nova, National Tour), multiple collaborations with Taylor Mac, Heather Christian, the Bengsons, and Manchester-based artist Chris Thorpe. Her first short film, Remind Me, was an official selection of the Venice and Beverly Hills Film Festivals. 2017 Smithsonian Award for Ingenuity. Proud SDC member. NYTW Usual Suspect.
