A Midsummer Night's Dream - October 16 - October 18, 2014

RL Turner High School

 A Note From The Director

I want to personally thank you for supporting RL Turner High School Theatre and our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. This is a play in which Shakespeare brings his audience into close communication with nature. There are constant references to the seasons and the weather, to the sun and moon and to the insects and wild creatures.
Most of the story takes place at night, at a period when night is blacker than we town dwellers ever know it today. Add to that the placing of the action in a large forest, and the scene is set for mistakes and confusion, mischief–making fairies, and magic spells and mystery. In the black depths of the forest, the time is ripe for wild imagination to bring dreams to almost all of the characters.
Or are they dreams? Naturally, as always in Shakespeare’s comedies, wrongs are forgiven, mistakes are pardoned, old adversaries are reconciled and love finally conquers all. Well, we can always dream!

I would like to thank our entire production team, cast, and crew for putting in many hours of work, line memorization, and scenic construction. Special thanks go to Alicia Cowan for being a fantastic student Director, Elizabeth Lambert for being an amazing Technical Director, Louann Cross for always being there when we need her, our friends and families, and also our fantastic Administrative team for constantly supporting us. In addition, I would like to thank Brett Farr and Dawn Valentine for being amazing advocates for Fine Arts in our district! I would also like to say thank you for our graduating seniors-who will be doing thier final fall show with us!

On behalf of all of us---thank you and enjoy the show!!
