The Wizard of Oz (RSC 1987) - November 17 - November 19, 2016

Randall K. Cooper High School

 End Notes

Last year, I had the kids write down a list of the shows they would like to do. This was one of them.  What a great journey it's been, and overwhelming at times.

I love this show. I've always loved this show, and am thrilled that we have the talent to pull this off. When I was at Camp Ernst Middle School, we did a play version of this that went well, but was nothing like what this is.

To date, this has been my toughest and most challenging production, and for that I thank these kids. They are the ones that keep me on my toes, that keep me motivated to do this, and keep me inspired to push them forward.

We have a lot of seniors involved, some for the first time! I hope they realize that there's a lot of time and effort put into this, but the payback for it will be immense. I also hope they continue it in college or the community (or even the next show here!)

Thank yous go out, first and foremost, to God for giving me the ability to get myself out of bed everyday and work at inspiring these kids. if you asked me 10 years ago if I would want to do this, I would have said no. I'm so glad I said yes, because I have met so many great people on my journey.

My parents and sister have always been my biggest supporters. I am thrilled to have my sister in the pit orchestra with us this show and hope she has a blast!

I have a new parent executive board, and they have been HUGE in helping me with this. From taking care of the little things, to just being available to bounce ideas off of, I couldn't do this without you all! Thank you.

Kellie and Steve - WOW! That's all I can say is, WOW! Thank you for all the extra time and effort you put into this.

Amanda, Katey, Morgan and Kiki - thank you for doing something I have a tough time doing - visualizing dancing in my head and making it come to life!

To my heads of committees - what a wonderful job you have done! To take the props, costumes (oh, the costumes), the makeup, the projections, the lights, sound - everything - and make it work to fit my vision! I'm so excited you all took this and ran with it, and I am so proud of all of you!

To my orchestra - thank you! I know there were moments where you weren't sure what was going on, but we fully have the number of people we need, and it sounds great! Thank you for making the commitment to be here!

To my crew members - there have been times of sheer boredom, and there have been times when you have been so busy you don't know what is going on. Thank you for sticking with it!

To my cast members - I'm only tough on you because I know what you can do. You make me very happy!

Audience: Thank you for being here and supporting these kids in so many ways!
