NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to Reading High School and to our performance of PIPPIN. We are excited to perform for you today! Please join us as we enter this magical world of storytelling. We have worked hard over the past three months to create a fun and compelling musical. We hope you enjoy the show.

It seems that, like Pippin, we are again on our journey to be extraordinary. Putting on a musical at RHS is always a life changing experience and this year is proving to be no different. We search for shows that are compelling and allow us to tell relevant stories through music. I think we've found another one with Pippin.

This is my 10th year of directing shows at RHS. Each show has brought it's own energy, challenges, disoveries, and joys. They are like the adventures of Pippin - a journey with lessons to learn along the way. This year, with our presentation of The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee in the fall and Pippin today, we've put our program on the right track.

I want to give a special shoutout to my crew of teachers who have worked so hard to put on this show - Holly, Kate, Joe O, and Alli. I appreciate all of you and I'm so glad that we're all friends.

Finally, a truly successful production involves more than what is presented onstage. We would not have gotten to this point if it wasn't for the cooperation, respect, commitment, and teamwork, of the students, their parents, our faculty/staff/administrators, the RSD central administration, and the Reading community. It amazes me that in spite of everything happening around us we are still able to put on a show like this. It thrills me even more that you are here sitting in the audience tonight. I hope you enjoy our show and I hope you will continue to support live theatre and the arts in our schools.

Sincerely,
