The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe - December 05 - December 07, 2019

Redmond Proficiency Academy

 End Notes

After the cast list was posted for this show, the audition panel and I received an array of thank you notes that ranged depending on the student/actor. However, despite the student or the role, every letter had one thing in common - a childhood love of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It’s a tale that has been passed down through generations and has filled kids with wonder, a story that is cherished deeply beyond our Central Oregon town. A favorite note of mine was from David, our foreign exchange student from Sweden. While his words and sentiments were similar to others’, knowing that his childhood memories took place halfway across the globe at the same time is the of magic of this tale, and of storytelling in general. It is a shared experience. To be a part of telling the story of Aslan, the wicked queen, and the mysterious wardrobe is a dream come true for many of our students. This story’s magic has defied both time and distance to bring us together.

We are so thrilled to have you here with us tonight for this classic tale. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe has linked us together for decades, and to retell the story on stage is an honor and a delight. Thank you for joining us and we hope that you enjoy this beloved tale retold through theatre - my favorite medium for shared experiences.
