Frozen Jr. marks a major milestone for RPA Theatre—our first-ever musical produced entirely through a class! A class musical may sound simple, but make no mistake—this show is a celebration of how far our department has come, of what happens when access meets passion, and of the joy of learning something new together. For some students in this cast, this was their very first time on stage.
Watching veteran performers work side-by-side with first-timers has been one of the greatest gifts of this process. The spirit of mentorship, collaboration, and play has been alive in every rehearsal. This production has been especially lucky to have a brilliant student assistant director, Izzy Moon, who brought not only her sharp eye and theatrical knowledge, but also a deep sense of care for her peers on and off stage.
Frozen is intoxicating to little kids—and these “big kids” were no exception. This is a generation who grew up belting “Let It Go” in the backseat of their parents’ cars, and now they’ve brought those same characters to life with heart, humor, and honor for the next wave of dreamers. Watching them become the heroes they once looked up to has been nothing short of magic.
Frozen Jr. is about love, bravery, and the bond of chosen family—and so is educational theatre. To create a space where students can explore stories, take risks, and celebrate both childhood and growth is a privilege. Tonight’s show is a joyful reminder that theatre doesn’t just entertain—it shapes us, welcomes us, and reminds us that we are never too grown to play.
Thank you for being here, and for supporting the kind of theatre that allows students to let it go.
