James Murphy

Recent credits include Cyrano in Cyrano de Bergerac (RTCC Award: Best Lead Performance), Hal in Proof (Chamberlayne Actors Theatre), William Shakespeare in Liz Duffy Adam's Born With Teeth, and R.P. McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. James earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from TheatreVCU, and has collaborated with local artists such as Andrew Gall, Jan Powell, and Steve Perigard. He extends his heartfelt gratitude to his friends and family for their unwavering support, but most of all to his wife Emily, whom he could not weather this world without.

Marie Lucas
as Lady Macbeth
makes her debut with Richmond Shakespeare, and she is humbled and grateful for the opportunity. Marie moved back to Virginia six years ago, after spending over a decade of artistic endeavors in Chicago Illinois, after earning her BFA in performance theatre from VCU. Since her return, she has appeared as Caroline in Detroit 67’ with Firehouse Theatre, swapped between both Roland and Marianne in Constellations with Yes And! Theatrical Company, and performed the one woman show, The Pink Unicorn with Richmond Triangle Players. Previous Midwest productions include “Fabiana” in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Dee, in International Falls, and “Bonnie” in Bonnie and Clyde. A founding member of Alluvium Group (Chicago), she co-directed, wrote and produced I am No Bird, an original work about the Bronte sisters. Thanks to my love, Cody, for your constant encouragement and belief in me, and our lady baby Mackey, who we almost named the title of this play.
