A letter from the Director:
There was so much excitement when I shared the decision to make OKLAHOMA! our musical produciton for this year. All at once, the students were deciding who they would like to be, what role in the tech they would like to handle, and they began rehearsing lines and memorizing songs. WOW! That's what teaching is all about for me--watching students have a passion for the musical theater! This passion has sustained us all throughout the process of putting a show together. The bottom line for each and every one of us has been the answer to the question, "what does it take to make a production of this level a success?" Dedication, heart, really hard work, lots of langhs, and even some tears. High or low, we have loved every moment!
What you will see tonight is a fun, classic show that we make seem easy. What you won't see is a director losing her mind from time to time, tech students making sure they get set pieces in the right place, seastresses frantically fixing costumes, musicians practicing over and over to make sure their key signatures are correct, makeup artists working to get every face right, or sound and lighting technicians making sure they know every line of the show so that they won't get one cue wrong. You won't see the struggles to learn dance moves, the last minute painting of fences, or the hours of practicing to make sure the right notes are sung.
Hours and hours of work go into each aspect of this show, and without the wonderful partnership between Mr. Wright and myself as directors, between hardworking students, and partnerships with AMAZING parents (thank you!!!), none of this would be possible. Is it HARD work? YES! But, is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY!
It is our hope that you will be able to sit back and relax, and that you'll enjoy with wonder our amazing young people. These talented students are our future, and I am so proud to work with them! Thank you for coming and supporting us!
