DIRECTORS NOTE
Good afternoon/evening. I am Jessica Hill and I am very proud to be the director of Elf Jr. I am 40 years old and a Special Education teacher at Thomas Ewing Junior High School here in Lancaster. Since high school, I have been involved in various aspects of the theater including performing, stage managing, props master, basic lighting and sound, playing clarinet in the pit orchestra, and most recently, directing. My most recent theater experiences include Director for the following shows: Honk Jr. (A Penguin Project Production), Pirates! 2 The Hidden Treasure, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Annie Junior (A Penguin Project Production, and Joust: A Mighty Medieval Musical. I have also enjoyed performing in the following shows: A Star Trek Christmas (Yeoman Bates), The Day Aliens Attacked Fairfield: The Town Where Nothing Ever Happens (Blorp the Alien), Anne of Green Gables (Mrs. Barry). As much as I love being on the stage, I have found a new love with helping students grow, find confidence, and make friends, while putting together amazing performances. I have had the best time directing another Rise Up Arts Alliance show. These kids are amazing and I can’t wait for them to show you, the audience, just how special they are.
Next, I must thank Mrs. Judith Cosgray and Mrs. Linda Moore. These two ladies have helped me and continue to help me be the best director that these kids deserve. These performances would not be possible without their help. So, thank you ladies for being my friend and theater colleague as we continue to build this journey together.
And Last but certainly not least, I must thank our sponsors and the audience. To our sponsors, we couldn’t do what we do without you. And a special Sponsor thank you to Gay Fad for their sponsorship to purchase the licensure to perform Elf Jr. To the audience: Thank you for taking time to come experience the magic of theater with us. We hope you enjoy all of the fun moments this show brings to life. And remember, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loud for all to hear. Merry Christmas.
