An Original Play by Robert J. Morgalo

Janet, Ricardo and Tony are the victims of a scammer who rented the same apartment to each one of them and took off with the money. The scammer is unidentified and none of the scammed new tenants are in any financial position to just go find another place to live. The real landlord wants them out. So these three strangers have to scheme and work together to stay right where they are.

 A Word from the Playwright

Is this crazy or what? In March of 2018, at the age of 52 I decided to start acting. What the heck was I thinking? A year later I had landed 22 film projects, 16 commercials and the lead role in The Addams Family Musical. That’s right, Gomez Addams at your service. Wow! What a ride. And I don’t even have an agent yet. But that’s not even the craziest part.

On May 23rd, 2019, I was at the Hoboken International Film Festival where one of the films I was in, The Guilty Prince of Chinatown, was screening. There, at the gala, I met Joyce DeWitt. She was wonderful, gracious and just lit up the room. We took some pictures and I joked about doing Three’s Company Two. We had a good laugh and that was that.

The next day I drove home and started writing the play and just couldn’t stop writing. Three weeks later I submitted it to the NYWINTERFEST Theater Festival and now here we are. Imagine that! An off the cuff joke on a chance encounter with Joyce Dewitt and my play is coming to life. Now that is crazy.

I hope this, my first stage play, is to your liking and that I do justice to the memory of the original show and all of its very talented cast members.

So, what’s next? Well, I have three other original scripts I am currently working on and almost completed. The Mick and the Trick (action comedy), The Unhappy Scrappy Pappy (comedy) and The Nuyorican Experiment (comedy). I also plan on shooting Three’s Company Two as a TV Pilot for further development. I know, I know. It’s crazy. But crazy seems to have been working out pretty good for me so far. So I think I’ll go with it.

Thank you for coming out to see my play. Come and knock on our door, sit back, relax and make yourself at home.

 Note from the Director

When playwright Robert Morgalo told me the title of this show and then asked me to direct it, the first vision that popped into my head was of Jack, Chrissy, Janet and Larry scurrying around the apartment trying to pull a fast one on Mr. Roper. It sounded like a lot of fun but at the same time I was also a little apprehensive. How in the world could I possibly duplicate, or even try to duplicate television perfection that ran for eight seasons?

Robert told me not to worry because we weren't attempting to copy the original storyline. Whew! Glad to hear that. This show, he explained, was about three people from different walks of life and circumstances who try to survive together after having been royally scammed by an individual who rented the same apartment to all of them...individually. Now, that sounded interesting, I thought, and after reading the script, I was sold.

It has indeed been a pleasure to work with such creative and talented actors whose individual contributions not only enhanced the show but made the show an absolute joy to direct.

I am also thrilled to be directing a show that is a part of the New York Theater Festival.

Well, the only remaining thing to tell you is to enjoy the show. So, enjoy!
