 DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

DIRECTOR'S NOTE:

Welcome to our production of "Rent School Edition!" I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this iconic musical to life on our stage, and I'd like to invite you to imagine our production as a metaphorical table that represents family.

"Rent" is more than just a musical; it is a powerful and poignant exploration of love, friendship, and the pursuit of dreams in the face of adversity. Set against the backdrop of New York City's East Village, our production follows a diverse group of artists and activists as they navigate the challenges of life in the late 20th century. Their stories remind us of the enduring human spirit and the importance of community and acceptance. In our rendition, we see this community as a tightly-knit family, with our table symbolizing the heart of their connection.

As we bring "Rent School Edition" to life, we have strived to stay true to the original vision of Jonathan Larson, the show's creator, while making it accessible and appropriate for our school audience. Just as a family gathers around a table for sustenance and support, our cast, crew, and creative team have come together to create something beautiful and meaningful.

I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to the talented cast, crew, and creative team who have poured their hearts and souls into this production. Like a family working together, their dedication and passion have made this production possible, and I couldn't be prouder of the work they have done.

I also want to thank you, our audience, for joining us at our table. Theater has the power to inspire, provoke thought, and spark important conversations, and I hope that "Rent School Edition" does just that. Whether you are familiar with the original show or experiencing it for the first time, I hope you leave the theater tonight with a renewed sense of hope, love, and the belief that we can all make a difference in the world, just as a family supports and strengthens each other around their table.

Thank you for being a part of our production, and please enjoy the show!
