Hello, Dolly! - April 18 - April 26, 2025

Rock Springs High School

  Director Notes

Music Director’s Note:

Hello Dolly has been one of my favorite shows since I was lucky enough to be cast in my own High School’s production in 2011. Beyond the touching story of love, empowerment, and hope, Hello Dolly has some of the most iconic music from the golden age of Broadway. In addition to the many famous renditions of the title song, by a variety of recording artists including Barbra Streisand and Louis Armstrong, many of you will recognize songs that were featured in the 2008 Pixar film Wall-E. As a young actor and musician, performing in the ensemble cast cemented a growing love for musical theater that has endured my entire life. I am truly humbled to have the chance to share the experiences that shaped my own musical journey with others.

The music you will hear tonight was made possible in large part by the talent and hard work of the members of the orchestra, who gave up much of their free time to help bring this wonderful show to life. Without their dedication, we would not have been able to bring live music back to Rock Springs High School’s theater, and offer you Hello Dolly as it should be presented  - with real music, and real people. Special thanks to Stacee Corbett, Konner Hafner, Josh Knudsen, Linda Kulp, Alicia Stevens, and Joann Stevens, without whom this endeavor would not have been possible. Lastly, I would like to thank Sweetwater BOCES and Dr. Bernie Craft for helping us secure the funding to acquire the safety net for our pit.

In all, it’s so nice to be back here - where we belong. Enjoy the show!

Director's Note:

Sometimes art just needs to be joyful. Hello Dolly has been just that. A place to forget your troubles for a couple hours to enjoy a faraway and simpler place. The Golden Age of Theatre is the best place for that, in my opinion. The spectacle, timeless characters, and iconic music take us to a world where you can forget your troubles and fall in love in a moment.

The opportunity to direct this show and work with so many talented people always astounds me. I thank my lucky stars every day that somehow I've tricked whatever powers that be to let me make things I care about with people that care about the same thing. I sincerely hope that some of the joy of this show sticks with you as it's stuck with me.

Thank you for being here! Please enjoy the show!
