Tiny Beautiful Things - July 15 - July 25, 2021

Rogue Theater Company

Welcome to “Tiny Beautiful Things”, Rogue Theater Company’s second production this season. As mentioned in our Playbill for “A Doll’s House, Part 2”, Hope is our theme for the season, and hope blossoms in “Tiny Beautiful Things”.

27-year OSF actor Michael J. Hume directs this funny and deeply touching exploration of resilience — an impressive reminder that we’re not so alone after all. Adapted from the book by Cheryl Strayed and written by Nia Vardalos, “Tiny Beautiful Things” is about reaching out when you’re stuck, healing when you’re broken, and finding the courage to take on the questions that may have no answers.

We didn’t want this season to pass by without a Shakespeare offering. Barry Kraft will lead six sessions in September focussing on his favorites: “Romeo and Juliet”, “Julius Caesar”, and “Hamlet”. Do you love Shakespeare and want to take a deep dive into these plays? Barry, a 30-year OSF actor and dramaturg, knows more about The Bard than most people on this planet. We are lucky to have him share his lifetime of insights with us.

The season culminates in October with OSF’s Vilma Silva in “Mala”, written by Melinda Lopez and directed by OSF’s Penny Metropulos. With pointed emotional language, sharp humor, and piercing honesty, this powerful one-woman show is a moving portrayal of the ways we take care of family challenges, deepening and changing our bonds to the ones we love.

        Lights up!
