Hairspray is my first musical as a director, and the first musical in Rucker-Stewart's history. It's difficult to put into words how proud I am of every student in this production. The quality of the cast is absolutely outstanding! The level of commitment required for a musical, is new to the majority of the cast. These students have discovered that everyone shares equally in the pride and success of such an accomplishment.
Singing, acting, and dancing are equally difficult. Adding them together? A completely new challenge. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life directing such a talented, dedicated group of individuals.
Special thanks to Ms. Johnson, who altered dresses for the majority of the cast.
Thank you to Mrs. Whittaker for working with the large group, small group, and individuals on choreography.
I am still surprised and thankful for Michelle Hoffman, Rob Hoffman, Shannon Lannom, and Jonathan Galletti. They helped through the rain, rubber cement, and unexpected late nights.
