A Note From Our Director:

Planning this semester of classes at SBEstudio has been such a treat! I love working hyper-locally and the community we are creating here as we grow. Mentioning that we are producing “The Sound of Music” brings a smile to everyone I speak to.

It seems we all have a memory of our first time experiencing “The Sound of Music”. For many of our cast members, THIS is their first time experiencing this beloved musical. Our cast is filled with a variety of ages from 5 to 45, our older students often helping and mentoring our younger group. I find this philosophy of working together reminiscent of my Music Together of Fairfield County teaching days. It’s a fun and developmentally engaging experience for older kids to model behavior our younger set can look up to and emulate. During the semester each class was taught about “The Sound of Music”, sang its classic songs, learned how to audition, and ultimately auditioned in front of their classmates to land the parts they are playing today. Working on this show in our classes and coming together for our full company Sunday rehearsals worked seamlessly.

I’m so happy to be presenting “The Sound of Music”. It seems timely to tell this story as the tragic war torn Ukraine has families running to seek shelter and peace. It’s reflected right here on our stage in this Pre-WW2 musical.

Thank you to the Cast and Crew for working so hard to make this show possible. I am thrilled with your focus, professionalism, and spirit. I hope this production will bring a smile to your face and inspire you and your students to continue growing with us here at SBEstudio.

Love,

Jodi
