    Ashley Pearson

    is the theatre teacher/director at Salem Academy, where she has the most wonderful students! She is an actor/singer/director originally from Maryland now based in Winston-Salem, and is a proud Latina. Ms. Pearson started at Salem in 2019 and also now serves as the Director of Student Life. She studied music theatre through intensive programs at University of the Arts (Philadelphia), Elon University, and through several DC-area organizations. She has performed across Maryland, DC, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, served as the director for the drama camps through YMCA, and Company Manager of the Montgomery College Summer Dinner Theatre program. Ms. Pearson regularly performs throughout the triad and is so appreciative of all who support the arts and these amazing students!

    Thao Nguyen

    is an Actor/Singer who is comfortable on both the operatic and musical theatre stage. He’s acclaimed by critics for his "velvety baritone and ease and grace on stage." Off Broadway- The English world premiere of Tropical Angels with Musical Theatre Factory and the Taipei Cultural Center in Taiwan. As a champion of new music in the classical world, he was delighted to be a part of the evolution of opera in this first-of-its-kind "Zoom Opera” Fortune's Children by David Wolfson with Hartford Opera Theater. He is thrilled to be invited back to rejoin the cast in its sequel, Changing Fortunes, which is now streaming on BroadwayOnDemand. Nguyen is represented by The Brock Agency for Film/TV/Commercial. A graduate of UNC School of the Arts and based in Winston Salem, he maintains a private voice studio here. Favorite word is penultimate.     Tab May is so happy to be back in the Salem Drama Workshop, having designed lighting and/or scenery for about half a dozen shows for the Pierrettes including Julius Caesar, Sister Act, Steel Magnolias, The Addams Family Musical, These Shining Lives, and Seussical. Based in Greensboro with an MFA in Scene Design from UNCG, Tab has done work for a number of different schools and theater companies in the state including Creative Greensboro, the Temple Theatre in Sanford, CFRT in Fayetteville, and NCCU in Durham.
