It's a Wonderful Life - November 22 - November 23, 2019

 Director's Notes

Every Christmas my family and I would sit around and watch It’s a Wonderful Life while we decorated our home and wrapped up any final gifts. I always enjoyed the movie but while I was young, I now know that I was enjoying the nostalgia and the family time. It wasn’t until I was an adult with children where I found the beauty in the everyday hero, George Bailey.

Although George spends his early adulthood dreaming about his escape from Bedford Falls, the small town offers him unconditional love and support throughout his journey. We learn through George that it’s the small things in life that matter and to be thankful for the people and things in front of you.

I hope this play makes you feel nostalgia, not only for the movie but for time with your family and friends. I hope that you find yourself rooting for George and Clarence as they are fighting for their corner of the world, weather it’s on earth or elsewhere. I ask you to disconnect from your crazy schedule for two hours and indulge in the small but very meaningful things in life. Allow the community of Bedford Falls that the actors have created, lift you up and remind you that there is always someone there for you, there is always someone rooting for you.

I want to thank Mrs. Gallagher for her incredible work on costumes and Ms.Galattioto on her work on Make-Up. I appreciate the two of you for making our actors look so amazing. Your organization and attention to detail have not gone unnoticed. Thank you Mr. Mergner for working  tirelessly to bring the town of Bedford Falls to life, I know the HOURS and HOURS that went into this project and I appreciate the entire Mergner family for lending him to me. Mr. and Mrs. Craft for all of their hard work on this show. I feel so lucky to have two of the most knowledgeable educators by my side during our productions. I would like to thank my parents and my mother in law for always having my back and watching my children during all hours of the day and night. I could not do this job without Team Grandparents. To my husband who has the most patience anyone could ask for, I thank you for making sure I don’t miss show & tell, packing lunches and for always encouraging me to follow my heart, just like George Bailey. Violet and Finn- I hope you always find happiness in the small things, I love you everyday.
