The SRMS Spring Musical is truly a labor of love. Each year we are more blown away by the students' talent, dedication, and respect for each other. This year was especially challenging since Mary Poppins Jr. not only involves magic but is seven scenes longer than most junior versions. The cast and crew rose to the challenge, and we could not be prouder. We would like to thank Mr. Salem and Ms. Frese for always being supportive of the musical.
From Dr. Polak-
Mrs. Bray-Thank you for inviting me into this amazing partnership where you do most of the work and I somehow retain the title of co-director. To the students and their parents-a school musical requires the unwavering support of an entire family. Thank you for the unbelievable commitment you all made. I am overwhelmed by your dedication and forever grateful I was privileged to be a part of this show and all of your lives. I had the most joyous mornings ever because I spent them with all of you-you are the best of the best! Mrs. Mills-you were incredibly patient to make and remake the chimney sweeps to bring my vision to life-you are a true miracle worker. Mrs. Michel-thanks for capturing our rehearsal memories with such love. To my incredibly supportive family-thank you Mila and Misha Belle for enthusiastically singing and dancing to the Mary Poppins soundtrack, an extra thank you to Mila for assisting me with choreography. Martin-the little things are the big things, thank you for walking down Norwalk's busy street in frigid temperatures to get our brooms and for always cheering me on every step of the way. I love you all!
From Mrs. Bray-
There are so many people I need to thank for helping make this performance a success. Dr. Polak- Thank you for continuing to take this crazy journey with me. I could not do it without your help. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped on various committees. A huge shout out to our "props" people, especially Emily Mills who helped create magic! This could never have happened without you. To the parents- Thank you for your patience and support and for getting the students here in the wee hours of the morning. To Ms. Judge- Thank you so much for all your hard work painting and designing sets. To Ms. DeMeo- Thank you for helping organize and collect costumes. I appreciate your vision and attention to detail. To Rico- You are more talented than I think even you realize. Thank you for designing the sets and the lights, and for going above and beyond to help make every show a success. To my two children- Thank you for all your support, understanding, and for never complaining about late nights and cereal for dinner. To my husband- Your talent and willingness to help never cease to amaze me. Every year it gets a little crazier (or I do), and you are always willing to build and create whatever is needed to make the show a success. I am forever grateful. To all the cast and crew- I am sad to see this wild ride come to an end. Each of you holds a special place in my heart.
To the eighth graders-
It's hard to believe this is our last show together. It has been a privilege to watch you grow and become more confident each year. We continue to be in awe of your talent and commitment. Please continue to do what you love. We hope to see all of you in future productions at the high school. In the words of Maya Angelou, "Nothing can dim the light that shines from within." Best of luck to you! Love, Dr. Polak and Mrs. Bray
