Welcome to the Fayette Civic Center!

On behalf of the Fayette Civic Center Board of Directors, I would like to welcome you to the Fayette Civic Center. We are proud and appreciative of your attendance of Self Express Productions

Live on stage play, Annie!

The Fayette Civic Center began as the Fayette Grammar School in 1930. In 1980, a committee led by then-Mayor Guthrie J. Smith set out to restore the vintage grammar school into a community civic center. In 1982, an open house was held to celebrate the accomplishment. As the Fayette Civic Center, we are a gathering place for our community for family reunions and other social events. The auditorium stage and many of the architectural features throughout the building are original to the 1930 design.

The venue is also the home of the Fayette Art Museum. Feel free to browse. The Fayette Art Museum boasts an art collection of notable Alabama folk artists such as Jimmie Lee Sudduth, Fred Webster, Nall, Lois Wilson and Bro. Benjamin Perkins. The permanent collection contains well over 3500 pieces. Ms. Anne Perry Uhlman serves as the Fayette Art Museum Curator.

It is the Fayette Arts Council’s pleasure to partner with Self Express Productions to bring this enchanting play to the Fayette Civic Center stage. The Fayette Arts Council began in 1980 under Mr. Bill Robertson’s direction. Mr. Robertson planned countless concerts for our town throughout the years.

We are proud that Annie is endorsed by the Alabama Bicentennial Commission as an official celebration of our state’s bicentennial. The Alabama Bicentennial PastPort guide is available for purchase in the Civic Center office. The PastPort guide serves as a passport to Alabama’s historic destinations. The Fayette Civic Center and Art Museum are official stamping stations for your PastPort!

Once again, welcome to the Fayette Civic Center and Fayette Art Museum! A special thanks to the Self Express Productions company, producers Josh and Casey Kauffman, and the cast for their countless hours of practice and dedication to the play. Their hard work made this wonderful event possible.

To the cast members of Self Express… Break A Leg!!

Enjoy the play!
