Note From the Director:
Welcome to the Smith County Playhouse production of Les Miserables: School Edition. We are proud to present to you a show that showcases love, compassion, forgiveness - and most importantly - Christlikeness in a way that no other show can. It’s a show that could not have been made possible without the support of our community, including our DIrector of Schools Barry Smith, our administration at Smith County High School, and the dedication of our SCP board and parents who allowed their children to participate. I’d also like to thank my wife for not only being supportive, but taking part by helping with music practices while showing our son Silas the value of musical theatre. These individuals believed in this show when not many others did, and because of that I extend my sincere gratitude.
I am incredibly proud of everyone who had a hand in making this production possible. The quality of the cast, crew, adult volunteers, and our SCP board is outstanding. A truly successful production however, involves more than what is presented on stage. It should not only be an artistic learning experience, but a personal one as well. I'm especially proud of the cooperation, mutual respect, the level of the commitment, and the teamwork that has been demonstrated by everyone involved in this production. Everyone has put egos aside and discovered that whether they had one line or fifty, were on or off stage, that everyone shares equally in the pride and success of such an accomplishment.
To our seniors- Thank you for your continued commitment to the program. Many of you have been incredible role models to our younger students. All of you have continued to lay the foundation of success for our program. Some of you have been in the program since Mr. Reece was leading it (and I was in the shows myself) and others of you just started this year. But all of you have left an indelible mark on this program.
To the students returning next year- Remember this moment. Soak it in. Spend time with the seniors. Moments like the one you’re about to experience as part of this incredible show only last for a short time. But the memories you make with others in the cast last forever.
