 notes from the directors

Jake Nevins

All in the Timing has been a play close to my heart for a number of years, but to succinctly put into words what is about to go on in front of you is a bit of a challenge. People are going to joke about everything from gender roles in the workplace to the abstract concept of monkeys, and that's within the first five minutes. You're on this ride with us now, might as well enjoy it. I've been hoping to put on this show for some time now, but would never have imagined that I would be working with such a dedicated, creative, and spontaneous group of artists. From goofy prop comedy to historical discussions, every person involved with this has been above and beyond as a member of this production, and I cannot wait to be on a real deck with all of them one day soon. A million thanks (again) to Seth, a creative partner through ups and downs, and Emily, who has been the voice of reason and the yes-and more times than any of us can count.

This is a very silly show, but also one with a lot of heart! Beyond the veneer of cheese steaks and nonsense languages, each one of these pieces has something to say about the way that we interact with each other--so needless to say that we've wanted to put this show up for years! I'm incredibly grateful to every person in this cast; everyone took the concepts we put out to them and ran with them, and have put more time, consideration and creativity into this process than we could have ever thought to ask for. I also cannot thank Emily enough for reining in the madness when needed, patiently making the tiny technical adjustments we ask for, and contributing to the nonsense in the best ways possible. Thanks also to Jake, whom I would not want to do this show without, and apologies to anyone who lives with our cast members and had their sanctity of mind interrupted by monkey screeching or chanting about bread.
