Notes from the Director
When my husband and I were thinking about shows last summer, we discussed doing something maybe a bit scaled back this year with a simpler set, less complicated costumes and props, maybe a smaller cast. You know...take it a little easier this year.
This is not that kind of show!
But when we heard the music in The SpongeBob Musical, we knew we couldn't resist it. What other musical has songs written by John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Aerosmith, Lady A and DAVID BOWIE???? (And many others - those are just some of my favorites!)
The overarching messages of the show also resonated strongly with us - themes of overcoming struggles together as a community, supporting each other's strengths, and holding each other up when times are tough. And of course, trying to remember to keep some childlike (SPONGEBOB-like) innocence and optimism when looking at the trials of the world!
We hope you have a wonderful time tonight in a fantastical place where colorful fish dance and sing, and where a simple sponge and his BFFs can bring a community together, and maybe even save the world.
