South Shore Theatre Works

 Executive Director's Letter

Welcome to the inaugural season of South Shore Theatre Works, we have some exciting things planned for our very first season. For the the past few months the board of directors have been working tirelessly to bring to you a new theatre company, one that engages and challenges our performers as well as our audiences.

For me, theatre is a place where I can temporarily retreat from daily life into a world that is distinctly "other." Here we create - and for a time, live in - an alternate reality. How fortunate we are to present that reality as entertainment to friends and family who fill our audiences. The hardworking volunteers that make up the South Shore Theatre Works are champions of this escape. They work remarkably hard to sustain a place where designers, actors, and technicians can come together to build something unique – and present the results to you. Our common goal is that for a few hours of your time, you too can transcend to that “other” place where life is enchanting, obstacles seem impossible, and life is both heartbreaking and heroic.

Tonight, please join SSTW as we shift to New York City 1933, where you follow the story of the little orphan who we all grew up loving. You will see Annie and Daddy Warbucks and all the orphans. If you find that you fall in love with the characters, sets, costumes and the wonderful music in this show – please look around you. I expect you will be among friends.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you for supporting the arts and especially for supporting SSTW. I welcome you to our family and look forward to seeing you at future productions!
