THANK YOU!
Many thanks to our Performing Arts Bosoter Association (PABA) for their continued support and to Robin Sprague for the wonderful Newsletter, to our LTUSD School Board for supporting the arts in education. Ed Wright for his willingness to jump in and help with building the set, no matter how large or how small. Jeremy Covey for making sure our microphones worked and Alec Niven for hanging our backdrop. Douglas Abbott for spending his afternoons filming and a HUGE THANK YOU to Travis Steil, for not only filming, but spending countless hours editing the footage for our audience.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES
This show has had quite a journey. We started rehearsing this show, albiet with quite a few different cast members, in January of 2020!
We were a week away from opening the show on March 13 when everything suddenly shut down. We walked out the door with the set only partially done, the backdrop still in it's shipping box from China, and the tags still on the costumes. In the Spring many of our cast members graduated and were replaced with fabulous students from my Fall Intermediate/Advanced Acting class. We rehearsed through Zoom until we were given permission to meet and film in person. It had been a whole year since the students had been on the STHS stage and it was a welcome site to see the kids in person again! As always, they jumped in and finished the set, then rehearsed and ran the scenes multiple times for filming. This has been an interesting experience and has stretched our inventiveness in order to make it possible for you, our wonderful, supportive audience to view.
I hadn't intended when we started a year ago for this to be my last play at STHS but after 24+ years at STHS I will be retiring at the end of June. I will miss this theatre, which has become my home, and I will dearly miss the incredible students with whom I have come to think of as family.
However, I said this is my last play.....not my last musical! Not yet, I hope! We are working on the musical The Drowsy Chaperone, a fun romp through the 1920's, to be performed in May! So make sure to check the PABA newsletter or the LTUSD website for information.
Thank you again for joining us! I will miss all of you too!
With love,
Niv
