The Drowsy Chaperone - May 14 - May 23, 2021

South Tahoe High School

 End Notes

Thank you again for joining us and I hope you enjoy the show as much as we have enjoyed bringing it to you.  Once again this show has been quite the journey navigating through all the changes during Covid.

I chose this show as something "simple" we could perform even if the "Man in the Chair" was sitting and talking to us from his very own living room on a computer during a Zoom meeting.  I was imagining the other leads and chorus members singing from their own kitchens as well.  It seemed doable and I didn't have to have costume changes or a set! I didn't even have to start planning for those things 3 months ahead of rehearsals like I usually do!  Piece of cake!

However, soon we were going back to school in person, and my rehearsals went from Zoom to live!  All of a sudden there were real people who had real costume needs and real sets!  THANK GOODNESS!

I didn't want my last musical at STHS to be virtual.  And I've never seen happier kids in my whole 24 years of teaching!  It was amazing to see these sad, depressed young people, who I adore, come to life with smiles and energy that had been non existant in the past year!

You should have seen them when I told them we didn't have to wear masks!  It was as though they had never seen each other before.  A whole new world was opening for them and they were ecstatic and joyful!

What a fabulous way to end my tenure here at STHS!  With a lovely, happy cast and crew, and a ridiculously fun romp through musical theatre!

Thank you to my cast, thank you to my crew, thank you to my teammates who have helped me so much throughout my 24 years here at STHS.  I love you all so dearly and I will miss you everyday!

Loads of Love!   Niv
