Hello!
Welcome to the first show of the Southeastern Performing Arts Department’s 2025-2026 season: Mamma Mia! We are so incredibly excited to present this show to you today!
This show is somewhat of an unconventional portrayal of the classic trope: young people fall in love, struggle in their choices, but ultimately find happiness together. In our story, Sophie and Sky are set to be married, but Sophie is struggling with one thing in particular; who is going to give her away at the altar? This question sends her on a quest to find out where she came from because she is certain the answer will help her learn who she truly is, to find herself. Many young people go through that very same journey - going through their young life trying to figure out who they are and what it all means. What a relatable moment. Throughout the story, the characters are experiencing, reminiscing, and discovering love and happiness from many different angles; a reminder that love and family can come from anyone and anywhere.
These kids have done an incredible job bringing these relatable characters to life! They have spent many hours in rehearsal, practicing on their own and collaborating with each other. I am so grateful for their energy, their time, and their talents - they are spectacular young adults and I wouldn’t want to work with any others!
Along with the many hours of work done by the cast members, we have had a number of other people who have helped and supported us along the way! Special thanks goes to the following people:
- Our administrators, Mr. Smith, Mr. Ruckel, Mr. Pfeifer, Mrs. Wills, and Southeastern Board of Education - Thank you for supporting our theatre program, and giving the students a place to create, express and perform. We are so grateful for your investment in our students. Thank you!
- Our Southeastern Faculty and Staff - Thank you for your flexibility and support throughout this process! The extra time you have allowed them to put into our show has been so appreciated.
- Caregivers of the students - Thank you for allowing your child to participate in our show! I so appreciate the sacrifice of time you have made to get them to and from rehearsals. Also thank you for helping feed the group throughout tech week and throughout our production! Without you, they would not be here!
- My Classes - Thank you for your help and patience over the last few weeks! Your help and flexibility has been so great!
- Matthew Skeens & Daniel Barnes - Thank you both for your insight, your encouragement, and your investment in our kids. No matter when or where they interact with you, they are always so excited to see you because you have made such an impact on their lives.
- Olivia Higley & The Williams - Thank you guys for hopping in and giving me another leg to stand on. You were such an immense help during tech week - like… seriously. It warms my heart so much to see alumni come back to support the current kids - we wouldn’t be where we are without you coming before!
- Carrie Cox, Andy Reed, Sara Kiser & The Heltons - Thank you for swooping in and helping with ALL the things. It is incredible knowing we have a support system that is ready to jump in whenever, and create such magic!
- Jeff Donahue - Thank you for being my sounding board in this production! When I came to you about doing this show, you never wavered in your support, and for that, I am so grateful. Thank you for always being ready with our tech needs!
- My mother - Thank you for your support, your patience and your help in every single one of these. I know I am not the easiest to be around (when I’m around…), but I am grateful that you continue to support my career.
- My husband - Thank you for your unending support and patience. I so appreciate your support for my career, even if that means sacrificing time here and there for me to be at rehearsal. I love you; thank you for being in my corner every day.
So, here we go again! We hope you enjoy Mamma Mia!
