A Note from the Directors...
Welcome to Southern Indiana Elements of Art's production of Mean Girls! The only thing that would make this day any better would be if it was October 3rd. We are so excited to bring this fun production to the stage. Both of us have had a love for Mean Girls for a long time so this production was a no brainer.
Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. Cady and her friends devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina’s reign with Cady going undercover as an aspiring Plastic. When the lines between the real Cady and her Plastic self get blurred, she must find her way back to herself and her true friends. Adapted from Fey's 2004 blockbuster film and the Broadway smash hit.
To say we hit the jackpot with this cast would be an understatement. Over the last 3 weeks (15 rehearsal days) these student actors and actresses have worked their tails off to get this production stage ready. These kids from different skill and experience levels have truly come together and became a family. While rehearsals were exhausting at times they were also full of laughs. We truly hope everyone had an enjoyable and fulfilling experience during this summer intensive! A special shout out to the cast parents for their support and effort throughout this endeavor.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the help of our creative team, our partnership with Charlestown Parks, and of course our sponsors. It takes a village to make something this FETCH happen, and we appreciate all of the support more than you know. A special shout out to our families and friends for their love and understanding of our crazy theatre brains over the past 3ish weeks.
This is our third production as a company, our biggest one yet, and we have no plans to slow down. If you enjoy our shows, please keep an eye on our social media pages for our next projects. We LOVE being able to bring the arts to the youth of our local communities.
