DIRECTOR'S NOTE
How can I be so blessed to direct 2 of my “have-to” shows in one year? JERSEY BOYS AND SIX. Directing a show is like looking at 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle and its box. You see the final product but you have to put it together. Dump all the pieces out on a board and start rearranging it and putting it into groups. Sometimes it works......sometimes it doesn’t work......you try to make all the pieces fit to make this beautiful picture. But sometimes the pieces just don’t fit. And you are back to finding the piece that fits. It’s a challenge and it takes time and patience, but if you do it right, it comes out like the picture on the top of the box. I think we have the picture on top of the box with this show.
This show has been a dream, not only with the queens, but working with Janeen Bodary and Paul Bowling. Watching it come together has been exciting. My desire was to keep it true to its origins on Broadway yet personalize it . The ladies were told to embody their queen and bring her to life on stage. I think they accomplished it.
Well, I’m happy. My job is done. Now it’s up to you the audience to enjoy the work we have done.
I have to thank Jesus for His grace and mercy. And my husband for having dinner ready and cleaning the kitchen so I can run from one rehearsal to another.
