DIRECTOR MESSAGE
Welcome to Blue Devil Drama Club's production of Les Miserables School Edition! My love for the show started way back in middle school when my sister and I would sing the entire two and a half hour soundtrack in the basement together. And yes, we had choreography for all the big songs. Directing this production is truly a dream come true for me, and I am beyond excited to share this beautiful story with our students and audiences.
Les Miserables is a monster of a show. The music is challenging for high school singers, the subject matter is heavy and difficult to connect with, there are many different characters with different costumes, and we had to take a deep dive into the historical events of the story (thanks Rocco!). However, we chose this show because we think that highly of our students in Blue Devil Drama. Our students have shown time and time again that they are ready to take on whatever challenge is given to them. They always come to rehearsals and crew meetings well prepared, ready to work hard, and show maturity beyond their years. Although we have many adults working behind the scenes, we are merely there as guides. This show truly belongs to the students, and their hard work shows.
I want to take a moment to thank the adult staff who work countless hours to make this show the best it can be. Jordyn Beery, Leah Schwan, Kylee Rogers, Terrie Murphy, Dane Corser, Anisa Warr, Ace Medina, and Travis Pennell - THANK YOU for everything you have done for the drama club! A huge shout out to our Production Manager and drama club co-adviser, Amy Corser, for all your countless hours, creativity, and for taking my big ideas and making them work. I don't know what I would do without you!
Thank you to all our amazing seniors - Cayla Albright, Rocco Borrillo, Kelsey Brooks, Maddie Burnham, Alec Butler, Haley Freshour, Joseph Heldmann, Audrey Hiser, Clay Houser, Emily King, Reese Miller, Natalie Mohn, Tristan Robinson, Lily Schalow, Riley Snyder, Hannah Snyder, Antonio Solis, and Adam Whitehead. You all are a huge reason why we felt comfortable choosing such a big show. Thank you all for dedicating so much of your time and energy to Blue Devil Drama. You are an incredible group of people with so much talent and creativity. You will be missed!
Finally, I want to thank my amazing husband, Joe, for being so supportive during this process and taking on solo baby duty while I've been at rehearsals. Happy first birthday Dominic!
Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
