Thoroughly Modern Millie - May 08 - May 09, 2015

St Catherine's School, Waverley

 End Notes

From the Director

Thoroughly Modern Millie is a modern musical about a simpler time. I still remember the first time I saw this show. It was early July 2002. The first Broadway production that I had ever seen. I was sitting in the Marquee theatre, right on Times Square, about to witness the Tony Award winning performance of an unknown actress who was about to become a superstar, Sutton Foster. I had no idea what this show was about, or what to expect. I was hit with a classic 20's score and a lot of theatricality that had disappeared from modern theatre.

I am so excited to be able to bring this production to life once more with the talented cast and supportive team that I find myself surrounded by. I would like to thank St. Catherine's for once again trusting me to direct their musical. I would also like to thank all of the parents for driving their children to and from rehearsals, all of the students involved both on stage and off for being prepared to come along for the ride...I'm so proud of what you have achieved.  Thank you also to the rest of the production team, I am constantly amazed at the talent and skill of them all and their willingness to go along with any idea I throw in front of them.

From the Musical Director

Thoroughly Modern Millie has been both an inspiring and exhausting experience. Since the first production meeting in July 2014 a team of students, staff, parents and friends have given up evenings, weekends and holidays to put together the amazing show you see on stage. This is a wonderful musical, one we have been talking about since the day we finished Seussical in 2013, and we are thrilled to see these young artists bring it to life. We hope that the students come away from this with not only lifelong friends and memories, but a realisation of what they can achieve.
