DIRECTOR'S NOTES

This journey has been like no other in my twenty years directing.  The students not only learned about theater but also about film-making.  I could not be more proud of how the students have persevered during this difficult time to put together a production that celebrates the American work force.  We ran into challenges - a COVID pause, limited amount of time to sing, technical difficulties, and more but they kept a positive attitude throughout. When I needed help, students, faculty and family offered assitance.  It takes a village to put on a production, but this year, it took a country.

When contemplating a production for this year, I could not think of a better show for the students to dive into as they explored various jobs.  Also, these songs and monologues shed light on the person behind the job.  We see what they do to survive, provide for their families or how they have found their purpose.  Every job provides a service to their community.  We wanted to communicate that the lives of these workers are not just stuck in what they do--they're more than their job.  They have dreams and aspirations.  We hope you never let go of your dreams and will continue to work towards them because that is how you can impact the world most effectively.   Last, don't be afraid to express your gratitude towards the workers who have been keeping our communities afloat. It is amazing how impactful a "thank you" or kind word can have on a person.
