MALCOLM V. EDWARDS
(Music Director) has been the director of the Senior Choir at SJCS since 2016 -and has also been involved in the four musicals that the school has produced. He started with Beauty and the Beast in 2019, followed by GTK… The Sound of Music in 2021, Annie Jr. in 2023, and our present production The Music Man Jr.
For the student, taking part in a musical offers so many benefits in terms of intellectual and emotional growth. Theatre and drama ask the student to 'grow from the inside', in coming to understand people and situations from very different times, places and cultures. Thus, our students in Calgary in 2025 are having to come to grips with life in a small town in Iowa in 1912.
Producing a musical involves many people and a great deal of hard labour, and the result is an experience that the student will carry into adulthood. I am very proud to have played a part in it.

COLETTE MARTINEZ
(Assistant Director, Choreography) has found it to be such a pleasure to work and learn alongside such a committed, musical and talented bunch of students. Colette has worked with Mr. Berko on GTK… Sound of Music and Annie Jr., which are past plays put on by the Schola, and has enjoyed it so much that she is back again! She wants to thank her family for lending her to the Schola community to invest time in something creative. A huge thank you to the entire team who helped pull this venture off. May you be blessed!
