I feel quite humble as I write this note. The year 2020 means lots of things. Some sadness: The pandemic, COVID 19, the closing of U.S.D. 350 last March, and outside the borders of our teachers’ and students’ homes here in the district: the general and terribly widespread effects of it all over our nation. The teachers and students, and administration, did valiant work over Zoom and other devices to finish the academic year. But, the important thing is THEY (WE) did it in fine style. Our sports teams (especially boys’ basketball, cross country) and our junior-senior play lost out, but everyone cooperated together to hold our heads high and the senior class of 2020 graduated on the football field in July---being honored by the school and town with a banner photo for each one hung around the square to show our collective pride in them as individuals and as a class.
We have done a fine job this fall as everyone who could returned to school while some are taking classes online from home. Our sports teams carried on—all doing well—volleyball and cross country even earning state rankings. I am very proud of our teachers. I am very proud of my daughter, Wendy Hacker, and all the administration and teaching staff who have pitched in to get the play off the ground. Yes, there are some changes, but we have done the very best we can to allow the students to get back on the stage, which they love and learn from. Thank you for supporting us—parents and staff. We are grateful. The students have been magnificent. They are troupers. They have given it their all in a very short time.
