Inspecting Carol - December 05 - December 14, 2013

StageCenter Theatre

 End Notes

From Evelyn Callaway, Director-

My first experience at StageCenter Theatre was a role in a holiday comedy called Inspecting Carol in December of 2006.  The director at that time, Nancy Woods, cast me as the male accountant, renaming me Karen.  Between rehearsals, set construction and actor's antics backstage, I knew that I had found kindred souls here in BCS.  There's nothing quite like bonding with others over blood, sweat and tears (not to mention laughter, costuming nightmares and ingestion of lots of faux smoke).

Imagine my excitement when the play selection committee was looking for someone to direct Inspecting Carol again for this season.  I jumped at the chance.  Now, here I am again, 7 years later, ready to put on a show.  The stage has been anointed with blood and sweat during rehearsal and set construction.  I'm sure the tears will appear some time between Thanksgiving and opening night.  As I run around madly, measuring folks for costumes and cursing myself for being foolish enough to direct again.....I hear the sounds of the cast members bonding backstage.  Then I remember why I'm doing this again.

We do, indeed, wear the chains we've forged in life.  I tell you, I'd be chained to these theatre folks any day of the year!  Enjoy the show, laugh a lot and have a safe and blessed holiday season.
